Dana Maeshia Camping Trip Reflection

Camping Trip Reflection

In the midst of packing up the final items left in the cabins, I realized that I needed to sit down and reflect out loud about this weekend’s camping trip.  For many this camping trip was just another weekend getaway, for some it was a much needed get away as being out here forces you to unplug. For others it was their first time being outside of their element.  While my goal is to make this an annual event, it is essential that every interaction is meaningful and adds something of substance to our participants and parent volunteers.

My heart feels glad when I see folks smiling and excited especially the little people, my heart also feels an opposite emotion when I see folks staring into space or looking perplexed. Thoughts are Things, everything is real and so are perspectives.

I hope to use any platform that I have now or in the future to ensure that everyone feels validated whether I agree with them or not. I want folks to feel like they have been seen and heard when around me.  I also want them to know that they can defy gravity.
