Join hundreds of Sacramentans in celebrating Earth Day for a citywide litter cleanup event on Saturday, April 23! Earth Day 2022
Earth Day will be held on April 23, 2022, and the theme is Invest In Our Planet—because a green future is prosperous.
Our Earth Day event will kick-off the Florin Road Community Beautification Project. Bring your friends and family for a safe, socially distanced, and accessible event.
The Florin Road Community Beautification Project is a public outreach campaign, youth engagement, and beautification effort to improve the area from Tamoshanter Way through Franklin Boulevard on Florin Road. The project will coordinate with Sojourner Truth African Heritage Museum, Luther Burbank High School, Florin Road Partnership, Escape Velocity and other local non-profits, and businesses to address litter and illegal dumping hot spots.
The day kicks off at 9 AM with a breakfast provided by Florin Road Partnership located at 5501 66th Ave #200, Sacramento, Ca 95823.
Volunteers will be assigned different areas to clean up litter near Florin Road from Franklin Blvd down to 24th Street.
After the Community Clean-Up, Join us at 12pm for an Earth Day Celebration hosted by the Sojourner Truth African Heritage Museum and Florin Square Development Corporation at 2251 Florin Road.
The Earth Day Celebration is a free event geared towards all ages. We anticipate a phenomenal event! There will be outdoor activities for kids, such as watercolor painting, planting your seeds, and learning about how we can all protect our waterways from trash and pollution.
You’ll have the opportunity to learn about the public art planned for the Florin Road corridor and sign up to participate in SOJO’s Docent, Mural Training, and other volunteer opportunities that will be coming this summer.
Earth Day 2022 is focused on accelerating solutions to combat climate change and activate everyone – governments, citizens, and businesses – to do their part.
The Florin Road Community Beautification Project is a collaboration of just that, the government, businesses, and community members working together to beautify the corner of our earth, provide opportunities for youth to be a part of solutions to prevent littering, and create an area where people will enjoy walking and taking public transit.
We can make a difference in every industry, but that can only happen when we all work together to invest in our planet.
