Like Dana would say “Around The Way Girl’s Book Club and Boys In The Hood Book Club was LIT 🔥 this past week”. We met for our first Fall session. The youth received tote bags and journals with their books.

Some of the boy’s hobbies include the love of art, cooking, video games, basketball, karate, science, math, fishing…
Some of the girl’s hobbies include the love of drawing, painting, baking, sewing, gymnastics, basketball…
The youth read and finished the book ‘Good Mourning: A kids support guide for grief and mourning death’ by Seldon Peden II. The boys said they really enjoyed it and it was fun. The girls said it was really personable and they liked how the author spoke as if they were friends and that they will keep it as a reference. 📖
We selected this book to help the youth understand grief and how to express their feelings in a healthy way.
Thank you to Shirkeri Badger, Felicia Armelin, and Passion Bailey for facilitating the meetups. Thank you to Jordan and Shahad for stepping up as the older participants and being mentors to the younger participants. They are our Youth Ambassadors and will take lead roles in the book clubs! 🙌🏾
