  • Youth ages 14 – 24, motivated to raise awareness and take action against issues such as mental health issues, domestic violence, social justice, workforce barriers, environmental justice, literacy, etc. that affect your friends, family and community.
  • Collaborative and flexible, enthusiastic, and energetic.
  • Available for occasional Zoom meetings. Reachable via email and phone.
  • Strong leaders.
  • Interested in online and in-person social networking.

ambassadors can

  • Provide valuable feedback on new concepts for Escape Velocity and partners.
  • Organize activities in their schools or communities to raise awareness of literacy, mental health, social justice, workforce development, domestic violence, etc.
  • Contribute their unique voices through blog posts, social media, videos, newsletters, etc.
  • Engage with other Ambassadors.
  • Add skills and experience to their resumes.

Shahad Youth Ambassador

Shahad is a Senior in high school. His goals include achieving a higher form of living and to help people anyway he can. He has high energy and great speaking skills! He is a Workforce Youth Ambassador. He enjoys working at the African Market and All Things Literacy Bookstore.

Valencia Youth Ambassador

Valencia D.

Valencia is a Freshman in College. She is a mental health advocate and wants to become a therapist. She has a passion for helping peers her age with mental health and self-care.
She is a Mental Health Ambassador and will lead peer-to-peer discussions, mother and daughter discussions and other mental health activities.

Shay Youth Ambassador

Shay P.

Shay is a Freshman in college. She was one of our MindOneSix Mental Health Cohort participants in 2021. She leads the Around the Way Girls Book Club meetings. She is a great writer, listener and puts 100% effort in what she does. She loves art and traveling. Her goals include learning and enjoying life. She is a Literacy Ambassador.

Zariyah

Zariyah is a singer/songwriter from Stockton CA! She joined this program to help motivate you, and herself, to thrive & feel good about oneself! While teaching & inspiring through positive reminders, she hopes to see you take action and begin living your best life knowing you can do anything! She is a HBFC Ambassador and will help with community outreach and social media engagement.

SACTOWNYOUTHNIGHTS YOUTH AMBASSADORS

Escape Velocity provides stipends to over 20 youth that use their skills to help plan, implement and manage the SacTownYouthNights events funded by the City of Sacramento. The events started September 2022. These youth continue work-based learning and experience with community events.

Escape Velocity is a community partner in the Florin Road Community Beautification Project. The FRCBP Community Squad is a group of 10 youth ages 14-19 who will receive a stipend for attending monthly learning workshops and project events, research community litter and pollution, provide creative solutions to combat litter and pollution, and create Public Service Announcements (PSAs).
