- Collaborative and flexible, enthusiastic, and energetic.
- Available for occasional Zoom meetings. Reachable via email and phone.
- Strong leaders.
- Interested in online and in-person social networking.

- Provide valuable feedback on new concepts for Escape Velocity and partners.
- Organize activities in their schools or communities to raise awareness of literacy, mental health, social justice, workforce development, domestic violence, etc.
- Contribute their unique voices through blog posts, social media, videos, newsletters, etc.
- Engage with other Ambassadors.
- Add skills and experience to their resumes.
Meet Our ambassadors
Shahad w.
Shahad is our Workforce Development Youth Ambassador. He is in college. His goals include achieving a higher form of living and to help people anyway he can. He wants to become an Electrician. He enjoys working at the African Market, All Things Literacy Bookstore and Escape Velocity events.
Valencia D.
Valencia is our Mental Health Youth Ambassador. She is in college. She is a mental health advocate and has a passion for helping peers her age with mental health and self-care. She helps lead peer-to-peer discussions, mother and daughter discussions and other outreach and mental health activities.
Shay P.
Shay is one of our Literacy Youth Ambassadors and leads the Around the Way Girls Book Club meetings. She is in college, is a great writer, listener and puts 100% effort in what she does. She loves art and traveling. Her goals include learning and enjoying life. She is a Literacy Ambassador.
Josiah "Jojo"
Jojo is one of the newest Literacy Youth Ambassadors for Escape Velocity. He joined the team because Escape Velocity has been apart of his life since he was 10! He was a former member of Boys in the Hood Book Club. Jojo wants to make an impact and help encourage boys to get into literature.
SACTOWNYOUTHNIGHTS YOUTH AMBASSADORS
Escape Velocity provides stipends to over 20 youth that use their skills to help plan, implement and manage the SacTownYouthNights events funded by the City of Sacramento. The events started September 2022. These youth continue work-based learning and experience with community events.

Escape Velocity is a community partner in the Florin Road Community Beautification Project. The FRCBP Community Squad is a group of 10 youth ages 14-19 who will receive a stipend for attending monthly learning workshops and project events, research community litter and pollution, provide creative solutions to combat litter and pollution, and create Public Service Announcements (PSAs).
